Geneva – SAM for Rights and Liberties has officially been granted consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC)—a significant milestone that strengthens the organization’s presence and voice on the international stage.
This achievement is the result of persistent efforts by SAM’s team in Geneva, alongside the profound sacrifices made by its members and staff working under challenging conditions in Yemen. It also reflects the unwavering support of a global network of advocates and human rights partners who share and uphold the organization’s mission.
With this new status, SAM will have the opportunity to actively participate in UN sessions, submit official reports and interventions, and contribute to shaping international human rights policies, particularly those addressing grave violations in Yemen and the broader Arab region.
SAM extends its deep appreciation to all who have supported its journey. The organization reaffirms its steadfast commitment to monitoring and documenting violations, defending victims, and promoting a culture of rights and freedoms in communities impacted by conflict and authoritarianism.
This step marks a new platform to amplify the voices of victims internationally, and SAM remains dedicated to pursuing its work with independence, professionalism, and a firm belief in dignity and justice.
